3. We need allies. Physicians and other colleagues need to update themselves on the true challenge and speak up, as RNs are often not in the room for these convos.
4. Policymakers need to pass packages that address both vacancy (acute) & supply (long-term). cf. NEJM supra /10

Okay wrapping up. Here's what I think we need:
1) Shift the language from shortage to vacancies. Cherished journos I'm looking at you.
2) Clinicians need to gently challenge administrators on their staff retention plans. More effort on improving staffing & work environments /9

Most higher-resourced countries are not facing a shortage of nurses. In the US, we have an ample supply of nurses. We have a *shortage of safe and supportive environments.* Therefore, nurse *vacancies* are up. And they're up for obvious reasons. 2/

When she made her will Cora would have been judged capable by the trustee officer and had an MMSE of 27/30. 'Dementia' on her death certificate led to a 2-year $20,000 investigation on her competence by Queensland’s Public Trustee #stigma https://t.co/FMYuZn1dRG
